The Cathedral Museum Città di Castello - Umbria - Italy
The Cathedral Museum has a very large collection of sacred art and is situated nex to the Cathedral of Saint Florido and Amanzio. There are important pieces of jewellery.
The Canoscio Treasures twenty-five objects used for the Eucharestic liturgy, are ondisplay. There were unearthed in 1935 when the land was being ploughed near the Canoscio Sancturay to the south of Città di Castello.
It was one of the most important recent archaeological discoveries and has vast historical implications. The art gallery is situate in the Salone Gotico. Here there are several important works including Cristo in Gloria by Rosso Fiorentino and Madonna col Bambino e San Giovannino by Pinturicchio.
Important historical documents can be found on the upper floor, one of these is Emperor Federico Barbarossa’s parchment which dates from 1163 and parchment codex from the eleventh century containing the rules of Saint Augustine.
