In 1974 the Centro delle Tradizioni Popolari di Garavelle was opened by the Region Umbria with the intention of maintaining folk traditions and culture.

You can revisit country life here and see the objects and instruments  of daily life in their traditional locations. On the ground floor there is a blacksmiths with wonderful leather bellows. The stalls contain the tools that the cattleman used, and in the wine caller there is a wooden press.

The large kitchen is on the first floor and has a wide fireplace and several cookies implements. There is also a bedroom complete with bedside tables and pictures of saints. In the big attic upstairs there is a collection of agricultural implements that were used for grain harvest and collection of looms that were a vital part of the family life. This museum gives us a glimpse of the past and what life was like and it helps us to understand folk traditions.
